What is this training about?

For many building professionals, understanding the energy code can feel overly complicated. Luckily, Urban Green is here to help! Crushing the Code NYC: Energy Code 101 prepares building and design professionals in New York State to navigate the requirements of the 2020 New York City Energy Conservation Code (NYCECC). 

In this introductory session, students will learn what the energy code is, why it was developed, where it’s headed, and the different ways to comply. This training will cover topics related to both the Commercial and Residential energy code for New York City. 

What will you learn?

By the end of this 2-hour training, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the structure and rationale behind the energy code, including the new provisions of the 2020 NYCECC and how they relate to NYC’s new emissions legislation.
  • Recognize the interdependence of the building envelope, mechanical and lighting systems and their impacts on energy code compliance.
  • Differentiate between the various compliance pathways, including required testing and documentation.
  • Identify areas for improved project communication and coordination to support compliance.
