Energy Savings Potential Across NYCHA's PortfolioThe New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is the largest public housing authority in North America, managing approximately 179,000 units and housing over 403,000 residents across New York City’s five boroughs. With a large share of developments comprised of multiple high-rise buildings, NYCHA faces the unique challenge of maintaining both individual building systems and “campus” energy infrastructure to distribute heat and hot water to thousands of residential units. In an effort to better understand consumption, NYCHA has undertaken comprehensive energy benchmarking of its buildings to identify opportunities for operational savings across its portfolio.
