On December 10, we held a special webinar with Con Edison to introduce their Energy Efficiency Programs and the Building Automation Systems (BAS) Calculator.
The BAS Calculator is a powerful, Excel-based tool designed to help you avoid wasted energy, maximize incentives, and boost savings when upgrading your building automation system.
Whether you’re a property manager, participating contractor, energy consultant, or real estate stakeholder, this interactive session will show you how to streamline operations, uncover savings, and boost building efficiency.

Key Takeaways
- As part of the commitment to sustainable energy, Con Edison has several energy efficiency programs, including:
- Residential Energy Efficiency Program for single-family homes and residential buildings with 1-4 units.
- Multifamily Energy Efficiency Program for multifamily buildings with 5+ units.
- Commercial and Industrial Energy Efficiency Program for projects with electric, gas, or steam savings measures.
- Small Business and Nonprofit Program for Con Edison electric customers with average electric demand below 300 kW on a rolling 12-month basis.
- New York State Clean Heat Program for existing buildings and new construction.
- Con Edison’s BAS Calculator tool is an Excel-based tool for customers participating in an energy efficiency program. It helps building professionals identify opportunities to save energy and upgrade their building automation systems. Using the BAS Calculator has been shown to reduce building energy use by 15% and fossil fuel use by 20%.
- The BAS tool can address key challenges in building automation systems that lead to wasted energy and identify opportunities for upgrades. Examples of BAS Control Sequences include:
- Night setback and unoccupied mode
- Optimal start/stop scheduling
- Demand controlled ventilation
- Chiller and boiler optimization
- Discharge air temperature and pressure reset
- To participate in the Energy Efficiency Programs and use the BAS tool, Con Edison requires several documents from eligible customers. Eligible sectors include commercial and industrial, multifamily, small businesses and nonprofits. Eligible fuel types include electric, gas, steam and oil.
