In partnership with HPD, Urban Green Council is offering FREE online sustainability training for the Affordable Housing Community including developers, contractors, property managers and building operators living in New York State. This $400 training is fully subsidized by NYSERDA and offered at no cost for a limited time. 

What is this training about?

In GPRO Operations & Maintenance Essentials you’ll learn how to execute the best practices of sustainable building operations and leave with an individualized action plan. You’ll learn useful tools to measure building performance and straightforward strategies to reduce energy consumption and costs.

What will you learn?

By the end of this training, you will be able to:

  • Take a systemic approach to operating and maintaining a building
  • Evaluate building performance
  • Describe three immediately actionable next steps needed to improve the health and efficiency of your building
  • Explain the costs and benefits of efficiency measures

Who is this training for?

This training is ideal for property managers and building staff in affordable multifamily housing, including: building superintendents, operators, facility and property managers, operating engineers and stationary engineers.

How does this training work?

Class sessions will be held over four days virtually on Zoom, led by a highly knowledgeable instructor with industry experience.

Day 1: Wednesday, August 6, 2:00pm – 5:00pm
Day 2: Wednesday, August 13, 2:00pm – 5:00pm
Day 3: Wednesday, August 20, 2:00pm – 5:00pm
Day 4: Wednesday, August 27, 2:00am – 5:00pm

Students must attend ALL class sessions in to be eligible for the GPRO Certificate exam. Students who pass the exam with an 80% or higher become a GPRO Certificate Holder.

Registration includes access to a course ebook, flashcards, practice exam, and the official GPRO exam in addition to several on-demand electives.

Instructor

Oliver Holmes
Adjunct Assistant Professor, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Oliver Holmes is a mechanical engineer, licensed professional engineer and LEED AP. Oliver has worked in building design, construction and operation at Rensselaer and Williams College, helping to reduce energy consumption by 15% and water usage by 50%. With his passion for sustainability, Oliver has taught as an adjunct faculty member for 20 years, and delivered Urban Green Council courses for eight years.
