Learn to navigate the requirements of the 2020 New York City energy code

For many building professionals, understanding the energy code can feel overly complicated. Luckily, Urban Green is here to help! Since 2010, Urban Green has trained over 16,000 building professionals on complying with the New York City and State Energy Codes. 

Crushing the Code helps building and design professionals in New York City decipher and navigate the requirements of the current New York City Energy Conservation Code (NYCECC). 

We offer six live modules, each between 1.5 to 2.5-hours long. Take one standalone course, or take an entire series at your convenience. Several times a year, we will offer the full suite of six NYC modules.

New York City trainings

If you have previously taken an eight-hour Crushing the Code NYS training, these two-hour trainings contain similar content reformatted into shorter modules.  

Crushing the Code NYC: Energy Code 101

2 hours, CEUs: 2 AIA, 2 GBCI, 2 PDH, 0.2 ICC credits

Learn what the energy code is, why it was developed, where it’s headed, and the different ways to comply. This module will cover topics related to both the Commercial and Residential energy code for New York City. 

2.5 hours, CEUs: 2.5 AIA, 2.5 GBCI, 2.5 PDH, and 0.25 ICC credits

The largest portion of the Residential energy code is dedicated to the building envelope because of its outsized impact on energy performance. Learn to comply with the residential energy code provisions for an air-sealed, well-insulated building envelope.

1.5 hours, CEUs: 1.5 AIA, 1.5 GBCI, 1.5 PDH, and 0.15 ICC credits

Learn how to comply with the heating, cooling, hot water, and lighting provisions in the Residential energy code to design and build right-sized, efficient systems for healthy buildings. 

2 hours, 2 AIA, 2 GBCI, 2 PDH, and 0.2 ICC credits

The building envelope will outlive all other building systems, so it’s critical that it is designed and built to code. Learn to comply with the Commercial energy code provisions for an air-sealed, well-insulated building envelope.

2.5 hours, 2.5 AIA, 2.5 GBCI, 2.5 PDH, and 0.25 ICC credits

Learn how to comply with the heating, cooling, hot water, and lighting provisions in the Commercial energy code to design and build right-sized, efficient systems for healthy buildings.

2 hours, 2 AIA, 2 GBCI, 2 PDH, and 0.2 ICC credits

After designing and constructing a building to comply with the energy code, project teams must ensure that their documentation is clear and supports compliance. Learn how to prepare construction and supporting documents for plan review and how to pass required tests and inspections. This course will cover topics related to both the Commercial and Residential energy code for New York City. to avoid objections and stalled projects. This course covers all mandatory provisions.
