We wish a fond farewell to our summer and fall interns, Abigail and Xiaoyu! We're amazed each season at the talent and dedication that our interns bring to the table—and we're looking for more support this year! Take a look at our current openings and share them with anyone who might be the right fit for our team.
Communications, Development & Public Programs Intern
Abigail will be traveling to Morocco in early 2016. She aims to get more involved with city planning and urban sustainability on her return.
“Working with three teams—Communications, Development, and Public Programs—at Urban Green, I had the unique opportunity to learn many different facets of the organization and take part in the growth of a non-profit dedicated to creating a more sustainable city. This internship allowed me to see firsthand the amazing work Urban Green does on a day-to-day basis. This is a very special organization, consisting of a small (but growing) group of individuals passionate about creating real change in NYC’s building industry. I learned a great deal as an intern here, but more importantly, I’ve been inspired by my colleagues and their commitment to a sustainable NYC. Thank you Urban Green for everything!”
Xiaoyu will be continuing work in the fields of sustainability, environmental protection, and climate change.
“Interning at Urban Green has been a valuable experience—working with the Research and Policy team has allowed me to explore the green building field from a variety of new perspectives. In the past few months, I conducted research on California’s Appliance Standards and Green Building Codes, contributed to drafting the data analysis part of Local Law 84 benchmarking annual report, and collected data on greenhouse gas emissions, building sector energy consumption, and electricity fuel mix for New York City, San Francisco, Singapore, London, Frankfurt, and Sydney. I’ve been able to hone my knowledge of sustainable building practices, research and quantitative analysis skills for sustainability-related projects, as well as communication and technical writing skills. The skills I cultivated at Urban Green apply across the many facets of sustainability and climate change, and I am excited to take the energy and passion of Urban Green with me as I continue in my academic and professional journey.“
