LANDMARKS RULES GETTING A GREEN TUNE-UP

Last week, the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) proposed significant changes to the city's regulations for historic buildings, many of which will integrate more sustainable practices.

Urban Green worked with both practitioners and the LPC as they developed these proposals, which are intended to create a more streamlined, efficient and transparent process—and incorporate options that enhance sustainability and resiliency. Visit our blog to see the highlights.

SOCIAL EQUITY IN THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT

On February 22, expert panelists from BuildingWrx and the Milano School of International Affairs will discuss how to better incorporate community needs into the design process.

Social Equity in the Built Environment will also share how LEED is approaching these issues and present case studies of projects that seek to empower a building's neighbors, workers and tenants.

HYPER-EFFICIENT BUILDING WORKSHOP

Local Law 31, which requires that new municipal buildings use 50 percent less energy, is expected to have a ripple effect across the city, driving change in the private sector.
