GOV. CUOMO PROPOSES ADVANCED CODES AND STANDARDS

Last week, Governor Cuomo proposed a major new bill to boost the state’s appliance efficiency standards and align building codes with the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act.

The bill would expand the state’s appliance program to a wider range of products, which could save New Yorkers an estimated $15B by 2035 and primarily benefit low- to moderate-income residents.

The bill would also make codes a more powerful tool to cut carbon across the state, opening the door in the energy code for new design criteria requiring reductions in GHG emissions.

For more information, read the bill and bill memo.
