SUSTAINABILITY AT THE MTA

The MTA network moves NYC in a carbon-efficient way, but with billions of rides each year it still takes an incredible amount of energy to keep the city moving. How can North America's largest transit system cut emissions...while also improving public safety and reliability?

On July 28, join us for an Urban Green Live episode featuring Pat Foye, CEO and Chairman of the New York MTA. Foye and Urban Green CEO John Mandyck will discuss the MTA’s latest strategies for NYC along with their longer-term vision for sustainability.

CHANGES COMING TO NYS ENERGY POLICY

NYSERDA and the NYS Department of Public Service released a white paper last month proposing revisions to the State’s Clean Energy Standard to help meet the CLCPA energy goals. The Clean Energy Standard currently requires utilities and electric companies in NYS to purchase renewable energy credits.

A key proposal in the paper would allow renewable energy providers to sell RECs directly to end users, not just electricity providers. The paper also proposes creating a new Tier 4 REC for new renewable generation that is located in or directly sinks into NYC’s Zone J. If adopted, building owners could purchase these RECs to comply with LL97’s carbon caps.

The proposed revisions are open to public comment until August 31.
