HOW FAR HAVE WE COME SINCE SANDY?

After Hurricane Sandy battered the East Coast in 2012, Urban Green convened the 200-member Building Resiliency Task Force to improve building resiliency and maximize preparedness for future weather emergencies. Ten years later, how far have we come?

On October 12, join us as we look at the progress NYC has made since Sandy and the work that remains. Experts will look back at significant changes made to the building code and zoning resolution and examine how resiliency thinking has changed over the past decade.

BUREAU OF SUSTAINABILITY


The NYC Department of Buildings announced the creation of its first-ever Sustainability Bureau to oversee and spearhead all sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives at the DOB.

The Bureau will be led by former Urban Green board member Laura Popa, who has more than 20 years' experience as a legal and policy advisor at the New York City Council. We look forward to working with Laura in her new role!
