The 2015 New York City Energy Conservation Code was released and has been in use since January 1. The new code is an adaptation of the 2014 New York State Code, and varies from its predecessors in both substantial and subtle ways. Its interpretation and enforcement have been closely aligned with Mayor Bill de Blasio’s vision for a sustainable New York City and its One City Built to Last program.

The code will help to define the ways in which commercial and multifamily properties will be designed, built, upgraded and operated; and will play an important role in the achievement of the city’s energy efficiency and emissions goals. Speakers will highlight the new code changes and enforcement, applicability to repair and renovate projects, and minimum compliance vs. exceeding code.
