Join the Trust for Urban Green for an exclusive look at the New York studio of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill at 7 World Trade Center, a 52-story office tower the firm completed in 2006.

SOM moved its New York studio to 7 WTC in the midst of the pandemic. As the first building to rise on the World Trade Center site, 7WTC set a new benchmark for environmental performance as the first commercial office building in the city to achieve LEED® Gold certification.

7 WTC has great infrastructure for leading-edge interior design and was an easy choice. Calling upon decades of experience, SOM designed cutting-edge workplaces with the conviction that architecture has the power to shape an organization’s culture. The 70,000-square-foot workplace fosters collaboration and community, with a focus on four main tenets: openness, mobility, sustainability, wellness and carbon reduction.

Employing a design philosophy of ‘radical reduction,’ the firm has integrated the distinct programmatic requirements and architectural features into a refined and tranquil interior. Each tenet is closely related, and the result is a piece of industrial design unto itself: an expansive, flexible space characterized by healthy materials, a responsible approach to the use of resources, and a focus on sustainable design and wellbeing. During the event, the design team will lead tours of the office and make a presentation of two current provocative proposals: Urban Sequoia and The Carbon Loop.

We hope to see you on May 12!
