Introducing the New LEED 2009 Regional Credit System! One of the most exciting developments within LEED 2009 is the addition of Regional Bonus Credits. In the new Regional Credit System each region of the country is divided into zones. Six exisitng credits within each zone that best address its principal environmental issues are identified. A project that achieves any four of those credits receives a bonus point for each. Over a period of several months the Northeast Corridor Task Force mapped a variety of issues in GIS to help determine the shape of their Environmental Zones including: population density, air & water quality & combined-sewer systems. Full details and the maps and list of credits are available here.
