Oppositions: Glass vs. Mass May 27th at Alexander U.S. Custom House
As part of Urban Green’s new series, Oppositions, the most thoughtful voices in the green building movement will illuminate both sides of the current debate about glass facades.
Many high profile green projects feature all-glass skins, and the public has begun to see these buildings as icons of sustainable architecture. While glass is a highly sustainable material, and daylighting is clearly a plus, are these benefits outweighed by poor energy efficiency?
Representing Glass will be Werner Sobek, Founder of Werner Sobek Design & Engineering, J. Christopher Daly, Founder and President of The Sheldrake Organization and Robert Whitlock, Principal, Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates. Representing Mass will be Anthony Malkin, President, W&M Properties and Scott Frank, Partner, Jaros, Baum & Bolles and Stephen Cassell, Principal, Architectural Research Office. Charles Linn, Deputy Editor of Architectural Record, will moderate. Tickets and details here. AIA HSW/SD 1.5
