Urban Green Council depends on the support and expertise of volunteers who contribute towards our development and operations. Over the years, many of our volunteers have become acknowledged leaders in the green building community. We periodically solicit the expertise of our volunteers for the development of our educational programs and other major policy initiatives through committees.
Events & Educational Programs
There is always a need for individuals to help out with the logistics of holding programs and events - including set-up, guest registration, and ushering. By volunteering, you gain free admission to great educational and networking events.
Monthly Programs Committee
Urban Green Council's Monthly Programs Committee is comprised of a group of motivated volunteers that play an important role in the planning and implementation of our monthly programs, specifically our High Performance Building Salons, Technical Roundtable Discussions, and Project Tours. The Monthly Programs Committee volunteer positions are a singular opportunity for individuals to influence our educational content and play a central role in advancing best practices and innovative strategies for the New York City green building community. Applications for new members are accepted every year in November.
Westchester & Rockland Programs Committee
This group of motivated volunteers plays an important role in the planning and implementation of Urban Green Council's educational programs in Westchester and Rockland Counties. These programs are critical to our educational efforts, complimenting the various course series that are also offered. The volunteers serving on the Westchester & Rockland Programs Committee receive a unique opportunity to become immersed in the most relevant sustainable design subjects and play a central role in their local green building community. Applications for new members are accepted every year in November.
We launched this new committee for 2014 to help to take our membership activities to the next level, and grow our numbers. The Membership Committee is charged with increasing membership and member participation in Urban Green member events, with the authority to modify and improve current events (like our quarterly member receptions), create new ones, and decide how to best allocate the membership outreach budget.
Emerging Professionals Leadership
Emerging Professionals positions are an opportunity to lead and shape this coalition of young professionals in the green building industry by organizing regular monthly forums and special events throughout the year. Positions include Co-Chair, Communications Coordinator, and Programs Committee Members. Elections are held every year in November.
We are seeking a committed group of photographers to record our various educational programs and networking events. See here for our full collection of event photos!
We would like to find committed, experienced videographers to film our more important educational events and panels for posting on our website.
