Urban Green's annual half-day conference in the fall covers current issues in the green building industry and features panel discussions between industry leaders. Our most recent conference on September 30, Sea Change: The Shifting Relationship Between Sustainability and Resilience, focused on how we maintain efforts to mitigate climate change in the building industry while responding to its inevitable consequences. Our previous conference, Cooling on Climate Change: Designing the Message examined public perception of climate change, the forces that influence our perception, and the role of the green building movement in climate change mitigation and adaptation. See all of our conferences here.
Our Monthly Programs are created by a volunteer Monthly Programs Committee that works hand-in-hand with Urban Green Council’s Education Department to select topics that are timely, relevant and engaging.
Our Technical Roundtables offer technically in-depth discussions led by industry experts. Held in a dynamic round-table format, these events are limited to 40 attendees to foster active audience participation.
Green Building Salon
This series provides a broad forum to explore current issues related to high-performance green building. Salons begin with a cocktail reception followed by a panel discussion of leading green building practitioners.
Green Building Tour
Our green building tours explore high-performance buildings, parks, and urban landscapes in New York and surrounding areas. Each tour includes knowledgeable members of the project team to answer questions and provide insight into the design, construction, and planning involved with these innovative projects.
Energy Aligned Clause
An industry working group led by the Mayor's Office developed the Energy Aligned Clause to enable both landlords and tenants to benefit financially from a retrofit. Urban Green Council led the effort through mid-September 2012 to get the word out to the Commercial Real Estate industry. How? Mostly through presentations to brokers, tenants, owners, attorneys and related industry organizations. PlaNYC has more information here. Watch a video presentation on the Energy Aligned Clause here.
GPRO: Green Professional Building Skills Training
GPRO is a series of courses and certificate exams that teaches the people who build, renovate, and maintain buildings the principles of sustainability combined with trade-specific green construction knowledge.
